Hotel Industry, Reopening Wave... Active Night and Outdoor Program Utilization
The hotel industry is launching various promotions utilizing evening hours amid eased social distancing measures and expectations of reopening. With the spring outing season in full swing, camping and picnic concept promotions using outdoor spaces are actively being introduced, showing renewed optimism after a long time.
According to the hotel industry on the 8th, major domestic hotels are offering 'evening promotions' utilizing bars and other facilities that were not operating actively due to COVID-19. InterContinental Seoul COEX reported a recent surge in reservations for a promotion offering unlimited wine, beer, cocktails, and over 30 types of oriental concept side dishes. The hotel stated, "Reservations for March 9th are over 90% full, and a full house is expected," adding, "Weekday reservations have also increased compared to March." This is attributed to the easing of social distancing and warmer weather, leading to more people wanting to spend special evenings.
With this growing anticipation, JW Marriott Dongdaemun Square Seoul's rooftop bar has also started live jazz performances. Fairmont Ambassador Seoul is targeting cherry blossom outing demand by collaborating with premium mixer brand Fever-Tree for a 'Guest Bartending Promotion' at its rooftop bar M29. Novotel Ambassador Seoul Dongdaemun Hotel & Residences introduces traditional liquor and customized side dishes with an 'Euljiro sentiment' pojangmacha (street food stall) concept.
Taking advantage of the active outdoor activity season in spring, packages with camping and picnic concepts are also being released one after another. Mayfield Hotel Seoul offers a package where guests can enjoy barbecue in the hotel garden with a 'car camping' concept and use hotel rooms for washing and sleeping. The package, launched in the same way last spring and fall, was popular with weekend sell-outs, leading to a season 3 using the MINI imported car this year. The hotel said, "Next month, we are preparing an outdoor 'Wine Fair' that could not be held during the COVID-19 situation."
