Three Sites Including Pocheon Hantan River Hwajeokyeon (禾積淵) Developed as 'History, Culture, Ecology, and Peace' Tourist Attractions
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province is developing three sites?Paju Unification Hill District, Pocheon Hantangang Hwajeokyeon (禾積淵), and Yeoju’s Choi Si-hyung’s Tomb (Geumsamyeon) and Jueosa Site (Sanbukmyeon)?into tourist attractions that embody stories of history, culture, ecology, and peace.
Gyeonggi Province and the Gyeonggi Tourism Organization announced the results of the "2022 History, Culture, Ecology, and Peace Convergence Content Development Contest" on the 8th, which included these plans.
Earlier in March, the province held a contest to discover tourism content based on storytelling to revitalize historical, cultural, and ecological tourism resources in cities and counties.
The province comprehensively evaluated project objectives, comprehensive plans, management capabilities, and expected effects to finally select three locations including Pocheon and Yeoju. Each selected area will receive 200 million KRW in project funding to develop tourism content utilizing various local resources.
Since 2019, through this contest project, the province has developed ▲Suwon Hwaseong’s "Media Art Banquet" celebrating King Jeongjo’s filial piety ▲Pocheon Art Valley’s "Song of the Quarry Workers" ▲Sanjeong Lake’s "Winter Festa" ▲Haengju Fortress’s "Haengju Street Art Night" ▲Augmented Reality (AR) mission tour "Secrets of Suwon Hwaseong" using 4th Industrial Revolution ICT (Information and Communication Technology) ▲Yeoncheon UNESCO resource metaverse (extended virtual world) program ▲Yongin City’s "Youth Kim Dae-geon Road" retracing the footsteps of Father Kim Dae-geon.

Choi Yong-hoon, head of the province’s Tourism Division, stated, "We will supplement the selected project plans with expert advice and present tourism programs that residents can safely enjoy and experience anytime between May and November."
