Disabled Person in Wheelchair Falls to Death While Using Subway Escalator

According to the police on the 7th, around 12:50 PM that day, a man in his late 50s identified as Mr. A, who was riding an electric wheelchair, fell backward and tumbled down the escalator leading to the ticket gate at Yangcheon Hyanggyo Station on Line 9. Mr. A was immediately transported to the hospital but was reported dead.
The escalator in question was not a lift designed for disabled persons but an escalator mainly used by non-disabled people, and it was confirmed that one elevator nearby was operating normally.
