The central party's Nomination Management Committee accepted applications for metropolitan mayoral candidates from 9 a.m. on the 4th to 5 p.m. on the 6th.
Including one confidential applicant, a total of 62 candidates expressed their intention to run for metropolitan mayoral elections in 17 cities and provinces nationwide, recording a competition rate of 3.64 to 1.
Among them, 8 candidates applied in the Daegu area, making the competition for candidate selection the fiercest, followed by 7 candidates each in Ulsan and Jeju, and 6 in the Gyeonggi area.
In the Honam region, 2 candidates each applied in Gwangju, Jeonbuk, and Jeonnam, while Daejeon had 5 applicants, Incheon and Chungbuk had 4 each, Seoul had 3, and Gangwon, Gyeongnam, and Chungnam had 2 each.
The Nomination Management Committee plans to conduct document screening for metropolitan mayoral candidates starting from the 7th and begin candidate interviews from the morning of the 8th.
