Jeonju-si Operates First Joint Committee for Integrated Housing Construction Review
Expectations for Rapid Housing Supply through Shortened Housing Construction Permit Periods
[Jeonju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Han-ho] Jeonju City announced on the 7th that it held the ‘Joint Committee for Integrated Review of Housing Construction’ to shorten the approval period for housing construction permits by integrating the review of matters related to project plan approval.
The integrated review of housing construction is a system that holds a combined review of architecture, urban planning (urban management plan and development activity permit), traffic impact assessment, and landscape committee reviews that must be passed when promoting projects subject to housing construction project plan approval under the Housing Act and small-scale housing maintenance project implementation plan approval under the Special Act on Vacant Houses and Small-scale Housing Maintenance.
The introduction of the integrated review was due to cases where, during the promotion of housing construction project plans, reviews were conducted separately according to individual laws, and discussions on specialized fields were held individually for each review, sometimes requiring re-examination of already approved reviews, causing project delays and disruptions in housing supply plans.
To improve these issues, Jeonju City formed the ‘Jeonju City Joint Committee for Integrated Review of Housing Construction’ in December last year, consisting of members of the separately operated architecture, urban planning, traffic, and landscape committees, as well as related public officials, and is currently accepting applications for integrated reviews related to housing construction projects.
When applying for the integrated review, duplication of consultations among related departments due to individual reviews is reduced, shortening the review period, which originally took more than 10 months, to within 2 months, enabling timely and rapid housing supply.
