People Power Party denies Kang Yong-seok's reinstatement... Lee Jun-seok says "I understand it's due to majority opposition"
Seoul City Party Approved Reinstatement
But Final Rejection by Supreme Council
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] On the 7th, the People Power Party denied lawyer Kang Yong-seok's application for reinstatement.
The People Power Party held an executive meeting that day and conducted a secret ballot, through which they rejected Kang's reinstatement approval proposal.
Lee Jun-seok, leader of the People Power Party, met with reporters after the meeting and said, "The executive members voted and it was rejected," adding, "I was not informed of the voting results. The secretariat only asked to be told if the majority were in favor." He continued, "Each executive member had their own stance on this matter, so there was no discussion."
Lawyer Kang was elected as a member of the 18th National Assembly representing Mapo District as a member of the Grand National Party (the predecessor of the People Power Party). He was later expelled from the party in 2010 due to derogatory remarks about female announcers.
