Severe and Critical Care Bed Utilization Rate Drops to 50% Range
[Asia Economy Reporter Yu Je-hoon] On the 7th, the number of new COVID-19 cases recorded was in the 220,000 range.
The Central Disease Control Headquarters announced that as of midnight on that day, the number of new COVID-19 cases increased by 224,820 compared to the previous day, bringing the total confirmed cases to 14,778,405. This figure is 61,452 fewer than the number reported a week earlier on the 31st of last month.
The number of critically ill patients currently hospitalized decreased by 12 from the previous day to 1,116. The number of critically ill patients has remained in the 1,100 range for six consecutive days. The number of deaths decreased by 23 to 348. Accordingly, the cumulative death toll rose to 18,381, with a fatality rate of 0.12%.
The nationwide COVID-19 critical care bed occupancy rate was 59.3%, down 1.3 percentage points from 60.6% the previous day. The rate was 57.3% in the Seoul metropolitan area and 64.2% in non-metropolitan areas.
