LG Group '2022 LG Awards' Ceremony... Koo Kwang-mo Emphasizes "Heart and Practice for Customers"
[Asia Economy Reporter Jin-ho Kim] LG announced on the 7th that it held the '2022 LG Awards' at LG Science Park located in Magok, Seoul, to encourage and share achievements that created customer value through product and service innovation over the past year.
Since CEO Koo Kwang-mo's inauguration, LG has presented 'practicing customer value' as a management focus and has been concretizing it every year. The 'LG Awards,' an innovation award at the group level, also selected and awarded cases that achieved results through innovative products, technologies, or services strictly from the perspective of customer value.
At this year's LG Awards, 74 teams (584 people) that created exceptional customer value in three categories?customer contact, market leadership, and foundational processes?were honored.
First, in the customer contact category, LG Uplus's Idleunara Team received the First LG Award. The 'Idleunara Team' has been operating the online community 'Uplus Mom Salon' since March last year for customers of LG Uplus's early childhood education platform 'Idleunara.' Allowing customers to participate directly as community operators and building trust with customers became the driving force behind attracting over 24,000 members within one year of opening.
Choi Yong-je, a counselor at LG Uplus Marketing Seoul Center 1, also became a recipient of the First LG Award in the customer contact category. Last summer, upon learning that a customer wishing to subscribe to the internet was hearing impaired, Counselor Choi contacted them first via text message instead of phone calls. Realizing that communication was difficult through text alone, he found the Sign Language Interpretation Center, which provides communication relay services for the hearing impaired, and kindly assisted the customer, which became a hot topic.
The First LG Award in the 'market leadership' category was awarded to the LG Magna Team, which improved the performance of power modules, a core component of inverters for electric vehicles, by applying a proprietary construction method. The First LG Award in the 'foundational processes' category was awarded to the LG Electronics H&A Division Team, which built a smart factory with world-class productivity by applying new technologies such as AI, data, and robotics.
In addition, 20 teams received the Customer Delight Practice Special Award, which was newly established last year.

At the awards ceremony, CEO Koo said, "Although everyone is doing different work in different positions, they confirmed and solved customer needs from the customer's perspective to create valuable customer experiences," adding, "Anyone with a heart and practice for customers can become a protagonist of the LG Awards."
