They will hold a merger declaration ceremony, including the signing of the merger agreement, at 10 a.m. on the 7th at the National Assembly Members' Office Building.
Previously, on the 28th of last month, the Democratic Party proposed a merger to Saerounmulgyeol, and Kim Dong-yeon, leader of Saerounmulgyeol, accepted it on the 29th, proceeding with the merger process.
The Democratic Party's Central Party Public Official Recommendation Committee plans to hold a three-day recruitment for metropolitan mayoral candidates from the 5th to the 7th, and Kim, who has expressed his intention to run for governor of Gyeonggi Province, is expected to apply for candidacy registration after the merger.
Meanwhile, after the emergency committee meeting on the same day, the Democratic Party announced that it will introduce a system prioritizing the recommendation of youth, women, and persons with severe disabilities who run in basic councilor electoral districts in the upcoming June 1 local elections. Spokesperson Cho explained, "We discussed mandatory nomination of 30% women and 30% youth for local councilors," adding, "We decided to guarantee the maximum opportunity for primaries to political newcomers, women, and youth." Also, youth candidates will be exempted from or receive reductions in primary deposit fees during nominations.

For persons with disabilities, 25% additional points will be given during evaluation and 25% during primaries for persons with severe disabilities, and 10% additional points during evaluation and 10% during primaries for persons with mild disabilities. The recommendation method for metropolitan and basic proportional representatives will be implemented through open auditions. Metropolitan councilor candidates are required to go through open auditions, while it is recommended for basic councilor candidates.
