Ulsan City Selects 23 Distinguished and Diligent Taxpayers This Year... Various Benefits Including Commendations Provided
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] Ulsan City has selected 23 individuals as ‘2022 Meritorious Taxpayers and Diligent Taxpayers’ and will award them.
The awards for meritorious taxpayers and diligent taxpayers are given to taxpayers who have faithfully paid local taxes and greatly contributed to the city’s finances, as a token of appreciation, and to foster a tax culture where diligent taxpayers are respected and favored in the local community.
The meritorious taxpayers are those who paid the highest amount of local taxes in 2021, including one individual and two small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The diligent taxpayers are those who have paid local taxes more than three times annually for the past three years and have paid over 1 million KRW within the payment deadline, including five individuals and 15 SMEs.
These 23 individuals were finally selected through strict review by the Ulsan City Personnel Committee regarding the selection criteria and merits, based on recommendations from district mayors and county governors for meritorious and diligent taxpayers.
The selected meritorious and diligent taxpayers will receive a plaque of commendation and a diligent taxpayer certificate, and will be exempt from tax audits for a certain period and exempt from parking fees at public parking lots.
Additionally, various benefits are provided, such as preferential loan interest rates and fee exemptions at Ulsan City’s treasury banks (Gyeongnam Bank, Nonghyup Bank), and discounts on admission fees at the Ulsan Culture and Arts Center.

Going forward, we will actively foster a tax culture where taxpayers who faithfully pay local taxes are respected and favored, while also planning to intensify collection activities against intentional tax evasion and habitual delinquents.”
