US Allows 'Gender X' Option on Passports Instead of Male or Female
[Asia Economy New York=Special Correspondent Joselgina] The Joe Biden administration in the United States will include a third gender, 'Gender X,' on passports instead of male or female.
The State Department announced in a statement signed by Secretary Tony Blinken on March 31, Transgender Day (local time), that starting April 11, passport applications will include Gender X in addition to male and female.
The third gender, Gender X, was introduced for non-binary individuals (people whose gender identity does not conform to the binary classification of male or female), intersex people (those with physical characteristics not defined by male or female), and those who feel uncomfortable with gender classification.
