The Transition Committee to Establish an Integrated Platform for Land, Infrastructure, and Transport... Standardization and Expansion of Public Data Opening
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyemin] The Presidential Transition Committee (PTC) has announced plans to establish an 'Integrated Digital Platform for Land, Infrastructure, and Transport.' They also plan to standardize public data and expand open data initiatives.
On the 31st, the PTC's Economic Subcommittee 2 received a report on these plans from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) and discussed ways to usher in a new era of land and transport administrative services. The meeting included members such as Yoo Woonghwan from Economic Subcommittee 2, Baek Wonkuk, a specialist, as well as representatives from MOLIT, related public institutions, and the industry.
The PTC decided to enhance the quality of open data and expand it from the user's perspective. To overcome the limitations of existing data, which often contains errors such as omissions and duplications and lacks standardization making it difficult to utilize, they will promote data quality improvement and standardization. Currently, MOLIT provides data such as building registers and actual real estate transaction prices, but errors occur because updates like building demolitions are not reflected, and there is insufficient standardization, such as mismatches in apartment complex classifications between building information and actual transaction data.
Additionally, the PTC plans to unify the channels for data provision and open data requests to continuously identify private sector demand and expand open data accordingly. In particular, they will broaden the scope of pseudonymized information (data processed by deleting or substituting parts of personal information so that individual identification is impossible but usability remains high), which has been reluctant to be provided until now.
Furthermore, they will build an 'Integrated Digital Platform for Land, Infrastructure, and Transport' that enables combination, analysis, sharing, and fusion of various data.
During the meeting, the 'Digital Twin Land' initiative was also discussed. A detailed 1:1000 scale 3D electronic map, which accurately represents sidewalks, intersections, and more, will be expanded nationwide by 2027 and updated annually to improve accuracy.
