Gyeonggi Office of Education to Observe 'Sewol Ferry' Memorial Period Throughout April
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education will operate a Sewol Ferry Memorial Period throughout April to mark the 8th anniversary of the Sewol Ferry disaster.
The Gyeonggi Office of Education will designate meaningful times on April 15-16 at all institutions including the northern and southern education offices, affiliated organizations, education support offices, and schools to sound sirens for one minute and hold moments of silence for memorial. Additionally, during the memorial period, all staff members at these institutions will participate in memorial events suitable to their circumstances, such as wearing yellow ribbons, leaving memorial messages, and conducting student educational activities.
The Gyeonggi Office of Education designates April as a memorial period every year to commemorate the students and teachers who lost their lives in the Sewol Ferry disaster and to remember the lessons learned from the tragedy.
