Last July, Lotte Chemical announced an eco-friendly hydrogen growth roadmap, which includes supplying 30% of domestic hydrogen demand. The announcement also included plans to invest approximately 4.4 trillion KRW step-by-step by 2030 to achieve about 3 trillion KRW in sales and an operating profit margin of around 10%. Currently, Lotte Chemical is responsible for 70,000 tons out of the approximately 230,000 tons of hydrogen distributed domestically. In January, Lotte Chemical announced it would develop a clean hydrogen business in Malaysia in collaboration with Samsung Engineering and POSCO. They plan to build plants in the Sarawak region producing 630,000 tons of green ammonia, 600,000 tons of blue ammonia, 460,000 tons of green methanol, and 7,000 tons of green hydrogen annually. The company expects this to contribute to achieving the domestic carbon neutrality goal and revitalizing the hydrogen economy.
