[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Woo Hyung-chan, Chairman of the Transportation Committee of the Seoul Metropolitan Council (Democratic Party, Yangcheon 3), received the Excellence in Legislative Activity Award from the Korea Association of City and Provincial Council Chairpersons at the 12th Excellence in Legislative Activity Awards Ceremony held at the Seoul Metropolitan Council on the 25th.
The Excellence in Legislative Activity Award is given by the Korea Association of City and Provincial Council Chairpersons to discover and encourage local council members who have demonstrated outstanding legislative activities and to disseminate exemplary cases.
Chairman Woo served as a member of the 9th and 10th Transportation Committees, successfully including the Mokdong Line in the preliminary feasibility study projects, and was appointed as an environmental impact assessment committee member for the Daejang and Hongdae Lines, leading efforts to improve local transportation environments.
He also served as the chairman of the Special Committee on Aircraft Noise, contributing to the relocation of Gimpo Airport and the improvement of noise issues.
In addition, through legislative activities such as the Seoul Metropolitan Government Ordinance on Prevention of Drunk Driving and Support for Victims and the Seoul Metropolitan Government Ordinance on Resident Support in Airport Noise Countermeasure Areas, he has worked to improve systems and has strived to support urban railway operators and city and village bus services suffering from the impact of COVID-19.
