Kwangdong Pharmaceutical Launches 'Gyeonokgo', Nutritional Supplement for Companion Dogs
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Chun-hee] Kwangdong Pharmaceutical announced on the 29th that it is launching a premium nutritional supplement brand for companion dogs called ‘Gyeonokgo’ and will actively enter the related market. The company plans to expand the know-how accumulated through the development of natural and traditional ingredients to pet health products.
The first product introduced under the Gyeonokgo brand, ‘Gyeonokgo Hwal,’ is designed to help improve immunity and joint health. It combines concentrated extracts of Rehmannia glutinosa and Poria cocos, red ginseng concentrate, and acacia honey as its main ingredients, embodying the core capabilities of Kwangdong Pharmaceutical’s traditional ingredient technology. It also contains functional ingredients for joint health such as dietary sulfur (MSM), glucosamine, and N-acetylglucosamine.
Gyeonokgo Hwal showed high results in palatability tests conducted on companion dogs prior to its release. Its soft and chewy yokan-type pellet (soft-rit) formulation makes it easy for dogs to consume and highly palatable. Individually packaged, it is convenient to carry and administer during outdoor activities such as walks. It can be consumed by dogs of all ages over 3 months regardless of gender. However, consultation with a veterinarian is necessary during pregnancy. Each package contains 30 units of 5g each.
A Kwangdong Pharmaceutical official said, “We put extra care into ingredient selection and management because it is for beloved companion dogs. In particular, the main ingredients?concentrated extracts of Rehmannia glutinosa and Poria cocos, red ginseng concentrate, and acacia honey?are made from ‘human-grade’ raw materials, so owners can trust and confidently give this product to their dogs.”
