The unmanned surveillance boat was introduced to strengthen port security and eliminate blind spots to realize a safe Busan Port.
On the 24th, BPA signed a business agreement with Busan New Port Security Corporation, which is responsible for port security at Busan New Port, for the operation of the unmanned surveillance boat and held an equipment demonstration.
The unmanned surveillance boat was designed and manufactured with direct participation from BPA and Busan New Port Security Corporation from the design stage to suit the field environment and operational purposes.
Measuring 1.8 meters in length, it is equipped with a high-performance camera capable of real-time video transmission on the hull, allowing monitoring from the port control room.
The camera can rotate 360 degrees horizontally and 180 degrees vertically, and has zoom capabilities to assess the situation on site from various angles.
After test operations, BPA plans to deploy the unmanned surveillance boat for full-scale maritime surveillance starting in April. It will also be used to eliminate blind spots that are difficult to monitor with CCTV and security personnel within the port.
It is expected to prevent safety accidents through regular inspections of safety hazard factors such as aging quay facilities.
Regular inspections of security-vulnerable facilities will contribute to preventing security incidents, enhancing initial response capabilities to maritime accidents, and strengthening port border security and safety posture.
BPA plans to review the possibility of additional deployment of unmanned surveillance boats at Bukhang and Gamcheon Port based on the operational results of the unmanned surveillance boat introduced at the New Port.
