Head of Finance Team's Family Violates Act on the Regulation of Concealment of Crime Proceeds
Two Employees Charged with Aiding Embezzlement in the Course of Duty
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Gyumin] The family members of the finance team leader at Osstem Implant, who is accused of embezzling 221.5 billion won of company funds, have been referred to the prosecution on charges of assisting in concealing criminal proceeds.
On the 28th, the Gangseo Police Station in Seoul announced that they had applied charges of violating the Act on the Regulation and Punishment of Criminal Proceeds Concealment against suspect Lee (45) and five family members, and sent them to the prosecution.
The police also referred two employees from the same team on charges of aiding embezzlement in the course of their duties.
After sending suspect Lee to prosecution in custody on January 14, the police conducted additional investigations targeting his family members. Based on the investigation results, the police concluded that Lee’s family members were also involved in concealing criminal proceeds from the embezzlement. The two employees were also found to have knowingly aided Lee’s embezzlement.

Meanwhile, on the 18th, the police decided not to indict Osstem Implant Chairman Choi Gyuok and CEO Eom Taegwan, who had been accused of embezzlement and violating the Capital Markets Act, finding no evidence of wrongdoing.
