310,049 Confirmed Cases by 9 PM... 3,715 More Than Previous Day

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] As the spread of the Omicron variant virus continues, about 310,000 new COVID-19 cases were reported nationwide on the 26th.
According to Seoul and other local governments, from midnight to 9 p.m. on that day, 310,049 people across 17 cities and provinces nationwide were confirmed positive for COVID-19. This is 3,715 more than the 306,334 cases recorded at the same time the previous day.
Compared to the figure at the same time one week ago on the 19th (318,838 cases), it decreased by 8,789, and compared to two weeks ago on the 12th (337,452 cases), it decreased by 27,403. Since there is still time until midnight when the count closes, the number of new confirmed cases to be announced on the 27th is expected to increase further.

As of 9 p.m. that day, 163,887 new cases (52.9%) were reported in the Seoul metropolitan area, and 146,162 new cases (47.1%) were reported in non-metropolitan areas. By region, the numbers were: Gyeonggi 84,435, Seoul 59,597, Incheon 19,855, Gyeongnam 19,207, Gyeongbuk 14,676, Chungnam 14,050, Daegu 13,058, Jeonnam 12,294, Jeonbuk 10,864, Chungbuk 10,811, Busan 10,010, Gangwon 9,272, Daejeon 8,964, Gwangju 8,870, Ulsan 6,868, Jeju 4,874, and Sejong 2,344.
