Heavy Rain Across the Country Tonight... Weekend Expected to Get Colder After Rain Stops
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyung-min] Heavy rain is expected nationwide on the night of the 25th. As of 5 p.m. on that day, rain is falling in Jeju, the Jeonnam West Coast, and the West Sea 5 Islands. This rain is expected to expand nationwide by night.
The rain will mostly stop by the morning of Saturday, the 26th. However, rain will continue in various parts of Gangwon and northern Chungbuk until noon on the 26th.
A heavy rain advisory was issued for Jeju as of 5 p.m. on the 25th. Heavy rain preliminary warnings have been issued for Gurye, Goheung, Boseong, Yeosu, Gwangyang, Suncheon, Geomundo, Chodo in Jeonnam; Changwon, Jinju, Hadong, Sancheong, Tongyeong, Sacheon, Geoje, Goseong, Namhae in Gyeongnam; and Busan, and these are expected to be upgraded to heavy rain warnings by dawn on the 26th.
More than 300mm of rain is expected in the Jeju mountain area. Rainfall in Jeju, excluding the northern coast, is expected to be 50-100mm (with over 120mm in areas with heavy rain in the south), and 10-50mm on the Jeju northern coast.
Rainfall of 20-70mm is expected in the Seoul metropolitan area, Gangwon (excluding central and southern East Coast), Honam, southern Gyeongnam coast, northern inland Gyeongbuk, and the West Sea 5 Islands. Areas with heavy rain on the southern coast and near Jirisan will receive over 100mm of rain.
Expected rainfall in Chungcheong, Gyeongbuk (excluding northern inland), and Gyeongnam (excluding the southern coast and Jirisan area) is 10-50mm, and 5-30mm in central and southern East Coast of Gangwon, Ulleungdo, and Dokdo.
Currently, strong wind warnings are in effect for Jeju and the Jeonnam coast.
From the night of the 25th, winds blowing at 35-65 km/h (10-18 m/s) are expected along coasts excluding Incheon West Coast, Gyeonggi West Coast, and Gangwon East Coast, with the possibility of strong wind warnings being issued.
Temperatures will remain higher than average until noon on the 26th. The lowest temperature on the morning of the 26th is expected to be 8-14 degrees Celsius, and the highest temperature during the day is expected to be 11-22 degrees Celsius.
