Gwangju Nam-gu, Maintenance of Village Farm Roads and Senior Centers Around the Regional Landfill Site
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, is launching a resident proposal project to alleviate the inconveniences experienced by village residents living near the Yanggwa-dong Regional Sanitary Landfill.
Nam-gu announced on the 25th, "We will invest 500 million KRW this year to repair village farm roads and senior citizen centers," adding, "We will accelerate efforts to improve living conditions by resolving residents' inconveniences."
This year, a total of 20 resident proposal projects will be carried out within a 2 km indirect influence zone of the Yanggwa-dong Regional Sanitary Landfill.
Before promoting this project, Nam-gu collected proposals from residents of Daechon-dong, Songam-dong, and Hyodeok-dong from October to November last year. Among the 59 projects submitted by residents, 20 were finalized after on-site inspections and feasibility reviews.
Among the 39 projects not included in the final selection, difficulties in project promotion were identified due to issues such as negotiations for the use of national and public land and lack of consent for private land use, as well as projects involving large-scale budgets.
Regarding the status of projects by target area, 17 projects will be carried out in Daechon-dong, including paving of the Dogeum-dong farm road, remodeling of the Sangchilseok Village Saemaeul Hall, installation of a sluice gate in Daeji-dong, paving of the farm road in Hachon Village, expansion and paving of the farm road near the agricultural shack, remodeling of the Yangchon Senior Citizen Center, and installation of U-shaped drainage pipes along the boundary between Seungchon-dong and Yangchon-dong.
In Songam-dong, two projects will be implemented: installation of drainage in Imjeong Village and remodeling of the Songha Senior Citizen Center in Ipha Village. In Hyodeok-dong, a farm road maintenance project will be carried out at 25 Nodae-dong.
A Nam-gu official stated, "The projects are expected to proceed in earnest from this month," and added, "We will do our best to resolve residents' inconveniences in line with the purpose of the projects."
