The Transition Committee Reports to the Military Manpower Administration... Focused Discussions on Improving the Enlistment Administrative System
[Asia Economy Reporter Bae Kyunghwan] The Presidential Transition Committee (PTC) discussed minimizing military enlistment waiting times and fostering an AI science and technology strong military during a briefing on the Military Manpower Administration (MMA).
On the 24th, the PTC's Foreign Affairs and Security Subcommittee received a general status report and an evaluation of key core policies in military manpower administration from the MMA, and exchanged opinions on the campaign promises of President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol that included these matters.
In particular, the PTC and MMA focused on devising measures to minimize the enlistment waiting time for youth so that academic schedules such as leave and re-enrollment, as well as employment, are not disrupted. To this end, a plan to improve the military manpower administration information system enabling a 'one-stop enlistment application' based on customized enlistment information was proposed.
The plan to foster an 'AI science and technology strong military,' a campaign promise of President-elect Yoon, was also presented as an agenda item. Representative measures include expanding specialized research personnel necessary for digitalization in the military manpower sector, conducting precise military service judgment examinations, cracking down on and preventing military service evasion, and implementing citizen-centered digital military manpower administration.
