Koo Kwang-mo, LG Chairman, on the 75th Anniversary: "Let's Create a Valuable Future with Customers"
Message Delivered Ahead of 75th Anniversary on the 27th
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Sun-mi] Koo Kwang-mo, Chairman of LG Group, delivered a message to employees ahead of the 75th anniversary on the 27th, urging them to create a more valuable future together with customers.
On the 24th, Chairman Koo said in the 75th anniversary commemorative video "We Were LG People," aired through the company broadcast in the morning, "Over the past 75 years, LG's journey has always involved the consistent challenges of our customers and LG people," adding, "Let us continue to create a more valuable future together with customers and LG."
This commemorative video consists of about 40 major moments that represent LG's challenges, innovations, and customer impressions. In the approximately 7-minute video, a total of 75 employees, either born in or related to the years of the episodes, introduced each episode in a relay format.
From retired LG Chem executives born in 1947, the year ‘Rakhee Chemical Industry’?the origin of LG Group?was established, to former LG Electronics Vice Chairman Cho Seong-jin, known for the ‘high school graduate myth,’ and LG Chem Vice Chairman Shin Hak-cheol, who was recruited externally in 2019, all appeared to introduce LG’s journey pioneering domestic industries by producing Korea’s first cosmetics, radios, refrigerators, and more.
To celebrate its 75th anniversary, LG is also conducting social contribution activities to express gratitude to customers and society. Starting today, a two-week ‘plogging campaign’ will be held, where employees voluntarily participate. ‘Plogging’ is a compound word of ‘picking up’ and ‘jogging,’ referring to the activity of picking up trash while walking or running, which can be easily participated in anytime and anywhere. The general public can also participate through the donation challenge app ‘rz’ developed by LG Chem. Donations will be delivered to various social members in urgent need at different times.

Additionally, LG supports the operating expenses of ‘Thomas’s House,’ a free meal service center in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul, to practice sharing. Furthermore, LG developed a 75th anniversary emblem expressing gratitude and commitment to customers, which will be used in newspapers and outdoor electronic billboard advertisements.
