Inspection of Gender Discriminatory Elements, Convenience, and Safety in Public Facilities

View original image[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Jinju City, Gyeongnam Province, is launching the ‘2022 First Half Intensive Field Inspection Monitoring’ project of the 2nd Women-Friendly City Citizen Participation Group.
The citizen participation group, composed of four divisions: Safety, Employment, Care, and Social Activities, will conduct monthly inspections from March to May by each division.
They plan to inspect elderly, disabled, children, and multicultural facilities and institutions according to monitoring indicators such as gender discrimination factors, convenience, and safety.
Before monitoring, pre-meetings for inspections will be held by each division, and after monitoring, improvement items will be collected through divisional discussions and notified to the relevant departments to be reflected in city administration.
Group leader Kim Byung-yoon said, “We will carefully check even the smallest details to ensure that socially vulnerable groups have no difficulties using public facilities. A women-friendly city means a city where not only women but all of us are equal and safe. We will work together to improve inconvenient and contradictory issues felt by citizens.”

The 2nd Women-Friendly City Citizen Participation Group, composed of 50 members recruited through an open call last year, has acquired the roles and functions of the participation group through two training sessions so far. They are carrying out duties such as proposing policies for the creation of a women-friendly city and the development of city administration, and monitoring inconveniences in daily life.
