The Korea Pharmaceutical and Bio-Pharma Manufacturers Association announced on the 22nd that it held the award ceremony for the Pharmaceutical Bio sector of the 3rd Korea Pharmaceutical Awards at the Pharmaceutical Hall in Seocho-gu, Seoul, and presented the plaque and prize to Honorary Chairman Lee.
The Pharmaceutical Awards were jointly established in 2020 by three pharmaceutical industry organizations?the Korean Pharmaceutical Association, the Korea Pharmaceutical and Bio-Pharma Manufacturers Association, and the Korea Pharmaceutical Distribution Association?to promote pride in the efforts and service of the pharmaceutical industry and to widely publicize their achievements both domestically and internationally.
Honorary Chairman Lee gained global recognition by developing ‘Lizinomycin,’ the first synthetic antibiotic in Korea and the second in the world, in 1969. He was selected as this year’s award recipient in recognition of his contributions to the development of the pharmaceutical industry, including continuous investment in infusion business and exporting ‘Winnerf,’ a three-chamber total parenteral nutrition infusion product developed in-house in 2019, to the European market as the first Asian pharmaceutical company to do so.
Won Hee-mok, Chairman of the Korea Pharmaceutical and Bio-Pharma Manufacturers Association; Choi Kwang-hoon, Chairman of the Korean Pharmaceutical Association; and Cho Sun-hye, Chairman of the Korea Pharmaceutical Distribution Association, described Honorary Chairman Lee as “a living history of the pharmaceutical industry who has advanced the domestic pharmaceutical bio industry to the next level,” and said, “His spirit of challenge serves as an example to many and will be a driving force for the leap to a global pharmaceutical bio powerhouse.”
