POSCO Chemical Appoints Kwon Oh-cheol, Former SK Hynix CEO, as Outside Director

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] Posco Chemical announced on the 21st that it held the '51st Annual General Meeting of Shareholders' at its headquarters in Pohang, Gyeongsangbuk-do, and appointed Kwon Ohcheol, former CEO of SK Hynix, and others as outside directors.
At the general meeting, agenda items such as approval of financial statements, partial amendments to the articles of incorporation, appointment of outside and inside directors, and appointment of audit committee members were presented and approved as originally proposed. Through the general meeting, Posco Chemical increased the number of inside and outside directors from 6 to 9 and established an audit committee and an outside director candidate recommendation committee within the board of directors.
As outside directors, former SK Hynix CEO Kwon Ohcheol and Yoon Hyuncheol, chairman of Yale Accounting Corporation, were newly appointed, and outside director Jeon Youngsoon was reappointed. President Min Kyungjun and Kim Juhyun, head of the Planning Support Division, were reappointed as inside directors, and to strengthen safety management, Kim Jinchul, head of the Safety and Environment Center and Chief Safety and Environmental Officer (CSEO), was newly appointed. Other non-executive directors include Yoo Byungok, team leader of the Eco-friendly Future Materials Team at Posco Holdings.

President Min explained the business performance, saying, "Thanks to the efforts of all employees and partners last year, we achieved record-high sales of 1,989.5 billion KRW and operating profit of 121.7 billion KRW. We laid the foundation for future growth through expansion of anode and cathode material production capacity and investment in raw materials, and strengthened partnerships by deciding on joint investments with global automakers in North America."
