Bithumb, 80% of Employees Are MZ Generation...Fostering a Horizontal Corporate Culture
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] Domestic cryptocurrency exchange Bithumb is striving to create a horizontal corporate culture. As the number of MZ generation employees has rapidly increased recently, communication methods among executives and employees are diversifying by utilizing various social networking services (SNS) and conducting internal campaigns.
According to Bithumb on the 21st, as of March this year, the total number of executives and employees working at Bithumb Korea is 342, with an average age of 35. Notably, 279 employees belong to the MZ generation born between 1981 and 2010, accounting for 80% of the total workforce.
Last year, Bithumb significantly improved its rank system. The previous ranks such as employee, assistant manager, and manager were unified into "team member," and the '-nim' culture was introduced to promote mutual respect. Recently, domestic global companies have been actively adopting the '-nim' culture to foster flexible and horizontal organizational cultures.
Additionally, communication channels where executives and employees can freely exchange opinions have been established. Since August last year, Bithumb has been operating "Bithumb House" weekly through the audio social media Clubhouse, where the CEO and management explain key company issues and engage in Q&A sessions in a relaxed atmosphere.
At Bithumb House, a wide range of topics are covered, from core issues for operating a virtual asset exchange such as ▲Travel Rule implementation status ▲Personal information protection ▲Suspicious transaction reporting system to relatively light topics like ▲My brand value in 2022 ▲What are you doing at the end of the year?
From the first half of this year, the plogging event (picking up trash while jogging), which was temporarily suspended due to social distancing, will also resume. Last year, Bithumb held two plogging events where employees walked and picked up trash to promote health management and environmental protection.

A Bithumb official said, "Starting this month, we are paying close attention to employee refreshment by supporting Ananti resort condos, which are highly preferred by the MZ generation, through welfare funds," adding, "As a young company with an average age of 35, we will continue to strive to create an environment where employees can freely share opinions and focus on their work."
