Yemeni Rebels Drone Attack on Aramco Energy Facilities in Southwestern Saudi Arabia
[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hyowon] It has been reported that facilities of Saudi Arabia's state-owned oil company Aramco were attacked by the Yemeni rebel group Houthi (self-proclaimed Ansar Allah).
According to foreign media on the 20th, the Arab coalition forces supporting the internationally recognized government forces in the Yemeni civil war issued a statement saying that Aramco facilities in Jizan, a city in southwestern Saudi Arabia adjacent to Yemen, were attacked by drones.
The coalition added that a power plant near Jizan and a seawater desalination facility in Al-Shuqaiq were also targeted by the Yemeni rebels.
The attacked Aramco facility is known to be a fuel distribution facility.
Turki Al-Maliki, spokesperson for the Saudi-led Arab coalition forces, stated, "Some facilities suffered material damage, but there were no casualties."
He explained that nine drones and one ballistic missile were intercepted, and some debris fell in residential areas.
The Yemeni rebels have announced that they will reveal details of the military operation targeting Saudi Arabia within a few hours.
