In response to the increased emotional difficulties among people in their 20s and 30s in the region due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, the city achieved the great success of being finally selected for the project by focusing on the 'Youth Customized Suicide Prevention Project' together with the Daegu Metropolitan Suicide Prevention Center.
Using the 50 million KRW in national funding secured through the project selection, the city will collaborate with university student counseling centers, nursing professor associations, employment welfare centers, youth centers, and others within the region to build a mental health safety net for youth by supporting mental health treatment costs, conducting online and offline self-assessments, identifying high-risk groups, and linking services with related organizations.
Additionally, Daegu City operates a 24-hour suicide counseling hotline (1577-0199), runs a crisis intervention team and emergency hospitalization beds for constant response to suicide crisis situations, and provides one-stop support services for suicide survivors to prevent suicide.
