Prosecutors Request Arrest Warrants for 3 Inspectors in Gwangju Collapse Accident
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] An arrest warrant has been requested for the supervisor related to the collapse accident at Hwajeong I-Park in Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City.
The investigation headquarters for the collapse accident at the newly constructed apartment in Seo-gu, Gwangju (Gwangju Police Agency) announced on the 18th that arrest warrants have been requested for three supervisors on charges of professional negligence resulting in death and injury, as well as violations of the Building Act.
The prosecution accepted the police request and filed the warrant with the court, and the pre-arrest suspect interrogation (warrant hearing) for these individuals is expected to be held next week.
Additionally, on the 22nd, a warrant hearing will be held for two subcontractor personnel related to reinforced concrete.
So far, arrest warrants have been requested for 10 out of the 20 people criminally charged in this case, which is half of the total.
Five key suspects, including officials from Hyunsan, underwent warrant hearings the previous day; among them, three, including the site manager, were detained, while the remaining two were released from the risk of detention due to no concerns of flight or evidence tampering.
