The Presidential Transition Committee visited the Ministry of Foreign Affairs building, one of the candidate office locations for President-elect Yoon Suk-yeol, on the 18th.
At around 2 p.m. that day, Kwon Young-se, Vice Chairman of the Transition Committee, Won Hee-ryong, Chairman of the Planning Committee, and members of the Planning Coordination and Foreign Affairs and Security Subcommittee visited the annex of the Government Seoul Office in Gwanghwamun, Seoul, where the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is located, and inspected it for about 40 minutes.
Earlier, the Transition Committee narrowed down the possible sites for relocating the Blue House to two locations: the annex of the Government Seoul Office in Gwanghwamun and the Ministry of National Defense building in Yongsan, during a meeting the previous day.
Yoon Han-hong, a member of the People Power Party who oversees the 'Blue House Relocation Task Force' (TF), also visited the building.
The transition committee members toured the 17th floor of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which has bilateral meeting rooms, and the 18th floor, which has a reception hall, while listening to explanations from Ministry officials.
However, they did not respond to reporters' questions such as "What aspects will you focus on?" or "When will the relocation site be decided?"
The annex of the Government Seoul Office, where the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is housed, was completed in 2002 to meet the need for a dedicated building specialized in foreign affairs and trade. It has six underground floors and 18 above-ground floors, with a total floor area of 59,709 square meters.
