According to a survey conducted by Korea Gallup from the 15th to the 17th, targeting 1,004 adults nationwide on the topic of "expectations or messages for President-elect Yoon" (telephone survey, open-ended responses), 11% cited "unity, national harmony, and cooperation," making it the highest proportion. This was followed by "hope for hard work and doing well" at 9%, "fulfillment of campaign promises" at 8%, and "economic recovery and livelihood stability" at 7%. Other responses included "fairness and avoidance of double standards" and "real estate stability" at 6% each, "policies for ordinary people and welfare expansion" at 5%, and "national stability and public peace" and "eradication of corruption" at 3% each. Among minority responses below 2%, "avoidance of a prosecution republic (2%)" and "investigation of the Daejang-dong incident (1%)" were also included.
By age group, those who mentioned "unity, national harmony, and cooperation" as their expectation for the president-elect were most numerous in their 60s (21%), followed by those in their 50s (18%), 70 and older (12%), 40s (7%), 30s (5%), and 18-29 years old (3%). There was little variation by political party support. Among People Power Party supporters, 11% wanted "unity, national harmony, and cooperation," while 15% of Democratic Party supporters expressed the same. Similar proportions were seen among men (12%) and women (10%). Regionally, responses were evenly distributed. Those who wanted "unity, national harmony, and cooperation" were highest in Gwangju and Jeolla at 17%, followed by Daejeon, Sejong, and Chungcheong at 16%, Seoul (12%), Incheon and Gyeonggi (10%), Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam (8%), and Daegu and Gyeongbuk (7%).
This survey result differs somewhat from the one conducted by Gallup immediately after the 19th presidential election when Moon Jae-in was president-elect. At that time, when asked about expectations for the new president (Moon Jae-in) in an open-ended format, responses included "not losing the original intention" (11%), "economic stability and revitalization" (9%), "policies for welfare and ordinary people" (7%), and "reform and clearing out deep-rooted evils," "doing well," and "a country worthy of the name" at 6% each.
