On the 17th, spokesperson for the president-elect Kim Eun-hye stated, "At 4:45 PM today, President-elect Yoon and Prime Minister Modi had a phone call lasting about 20 minutes to discuss ways to develop economic cooperation between the two countries."
Prime Minister Modi greeted President-elect Yoon by saying, "I wish you a successful term," and President-elect Yoon replied, "Congratulations on achieving good results in the local elections based on the trust and support of the Indian people for Prime Minister Modi."
President-elect Yoon said, "We have a firm will to expand the practical cooperation horizon in diplomacy and security with India, a leading country in the region that shares the values and philosophy of liberal democracy," adding, "On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries next year, I hope to further deepen and develop the 'special strategic partnership' between our two nations."
President-elect Yoon stated, "Based on India's tremendous growth potential, vast market, and abundant workforce, the development possibilities between the two countries will be limitless," and Prime Minister Modi responded, "In a situation where geopolitical risks in the region are increasing, the partnership with Korea is very important," expressing hope that "the friendly and cooperative relationship will deepen during your term."
In particular, both sides agreed to increase cooperation in new industries such as climate change and the green economy, as well as advanced technology sectors, and to make further efforts to establish a globally stable supply chain.
