KH Group to Host KLPGA at Alpensia... 'Promoting Win-Win Development in Gangwon-do'
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyungsoo Park] Pyeongchang Alpensia Resort will host a KLPGA Tour event.
KH Group announced on the 16th that it held a signing ceremony with the Korea Ladies Professional Golf Association (KLPGA) and will hold the KH Group-IHQ Kanbae Women's Open for four days from October 20 to 23 at the Alpensia Country Club in Pyeongchang, Gangwon Province.
Last month, KH Group acquired Pyeongchang Alpensia Resort and presented a vision to achieve mutual development with Gangwon Province and transform it into a world-class resort.
All KH Group affiliates, including Alpensia Resort, Grand Hyatt Seoul, IHQ, KH Philux, KH Electron, KH ENT, and Jangwon Tech, promoted the hosting of the KLPGA tournament. The prize money was set at 1.5 billion KRW, the largest amount of the season.
Park Jongjin, General Manager of KH Group IHQ, said, "Although the sports industry is facing difficulties due to the prolonged COVID-19 situation, we will do our best to ensure that players can fully demonstrate their skills."
He added, "Through the tournament, we will contribute to attracting tourists and revitalizing the economy. We will create an event that can be participated in by local residents."
The Alpensia Shopping District Association, which has faced business difficulties due to a decrease in tourists after the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics, also welcomed the decision to hold the tournament.

KH Group donated 50 million KRW to Woljeongsa Temple in Pyeongchang as a sponsorship fund for regional development. It also contributed 350 million KRW for wildfire recovery in Gangneung for the residents of Gangwon Province. As a local company, it continues its social contribution activities in Gangwon Province.
