Changgyeonggung Palace Pavilion Windows Fully Opened for Three Days
Heejeongdang, Daejojeon, Nakseonjae, and Gwolnaegaksa, etc.
The windows and doors of the main pavilions of Changdeokgung Palace will be wide open to welcome the spring days. On the 17th, the Cultural Heritage Administration's Palace and Royal Tombs Division announced that the window panels (창호, connecting passages between the interior and exterior) of Changdeokgung Palace, which are usually kept closed, will be fully opened for three days from the 22nd to the 24th. It is known that traditional buildings last longer when they are regularly ventilated and exposed to sunlight.
The event will take place at Heejeongdang, Daejojeon, Nakseonjae, and Gwolnaegaksa. Buildings whose interiors have rarely been open to the public, such as the entrance to the western wing of Heejeongdang and the corridor connecting Heejeongdang and Daejojeon, will also have their window panels opened. Visitors to Changdeokgung Palace can look inside from the outside. Professional guides will provide explanations four times a day by area. The opening hours are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. However, the event will be temporarily suspended in case of rain or strong winds.
