US State Department: "Iran Nuclear Deal Restoration Talks Near Agreement"
"Remaining Issues Also Resolvable"
[Asia Economy Reporter Cho Hyun-ui] The U.S. government announced that the negotiations to restore the Iran nuclear deal (JCOPA - Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action) are close to being finalized.
Ned Price, spokesperson for the U.S. State Department, said during a briefing on the 16th (local time) in response to a question about "how much progress has been made in the negotiations," "We have made significant progress and are very close to an agreement."
Price added, "I believe the remaining issues can also be resolved," but "since the negotiations are currently at a very sensitive stage, I will not specify how many issues remain or their nature."
He stated, "Considering Iran's nuclear development, the negotiations are an urgent matter," and "we are making every effort to determine whether mutual compliance with the agreement will soon be possible."
