According to Gyeongsangnam-do on the 17th, as of midnight that day, the number of new COVID-19 confirmed cases was 44,539, bringing the cumulative total to 474,201. Except for 3 cases from overseas arrivals, all were local infections.
The spread is strong, and the increase in confirmed cases was large as about 8,000 cases not reflected in the count on the 15th were included in the confirmed cases on the 16th.
By region, Changwon reported 13,794 cases, Gimhae 8,700, Yangsan 6,167, Jinju 5,512, Geoje 3,237, Sacheon 197, Tongyeong 166, and Miryang 138, showing a significant increase in city area infections.
In the county areas, the distribution was 677 in Geochang, 636 in Haman, 480 in Changnyeong, 436 in Goseong, 402 in Hapcheon, 283 in Sancheong, 276 in Hamyang, 270 in Hadong, 264 in Namhae, and 204 in Uiryeong.
There were also 13 additional deaths, bringing the cumulative total to 362. The health authorities reported that between the 1st and 16th, one patient in their 30s, two patients in their 50s, and eleven patients aged 60 to 90 passed away, and these were added to the cumulative death count on this day.
Accordingly, the cumulative confirmed cases in the province increased to 474,201 (1,371 hospitalized, 185,749 under home treatment, 286,719 discharged, 362 deaths).
