SK Siltron has been considering domestic expansion investments to secure a stable supply chain in response to the rapid increase in demand in the global semiconductor market.
Gumi City recognized this investment plan in advance and formed an attraction and support task force led by the mayor, reviewing support measures for nine months starting from July last year.
Subsequently, Gumi City’s full administrative support enabled SK Siltron to complete the large-scale investment ahead of schedule.
With this investment, SK Siltron will build a state-of-the-art Si semiconductor wafer factory covering 42,716㎡ within the Gumi National 3 Industrial Complex by 2024.
They also plan to hire about 1,000 new employees, which is expected to greatly contribute to revitalizing the local economy and creating new jobs in the Gumi area.
Currently, SK Siltron possesses the best domestic technology in the field of manufacturing core semiconductor materials, and it is growing into a global company recognized for its future growth potential and industrial competitiveness.
