Chosun University Ophthalmic Business Group Participates in International Medical Device Exhibition
Introduction to Corporate Support Status and Achievements
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Chosun University Ophthalmic Optical Medical Device Globalization Support Project Group successfully concluded its promotion by participating in the 37th KIMES International Medical Devices & Hospital Equipment Exhibition, showcasing the third-year project achievements.
According to Chosun University on the 16th, the 37th International Medical Devices & Hospital Equipment Exhibition held at COEX Exhibition Center in Seoul from the 10th to the 13th was themed "KIMES, Where New Hope Begins."
The event was organized as an opportunity to explore responses to the new medical environment and the prospects of the non-face-to-face medical industry accelerated by COVID-19.
The exhibition, as Korea's representative medical exhibition, attracted global attention to the evolving convergence medical industry. A total of 1,258 companies from 38 countries participated, operating 2,200 booths, with a total of 55,153 visitors.
The Chosun University Ophthalmic Optical Project Group, participating in the medical exhibition, held a session to introduce and share the third-year corporate support status and achievements through commercialization and technical support of ophthalmic optics.
The Ophthalmic Optical Project Group, led by Professor Ko Jae-woong of the College of Medicine as the general manager, has been conducting the project from 2019 to 2025 with support from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and Gwangju City.
The project, with a total investment of 18 billion KRW (8 billion KRW national funds, 8 billion KRW from Gwangju City, and 2 billion KRW private funds), aims to establish a domestic foundation for the globalization of Korean ophthalmic optical medical device SMEs, completing the construction of a testbed within Chosun University College of Medicine for preliminary testing, analysis, and evaluation.
Additionally, to support domestic ophthalmic optical companies, a full-cycle support system has been established covering product planning, product development, product advancement, certification, marketing, and market entry.
Notably, at the exhibition, UMI Optics, a beneficiary company of the third year of the Ophthalmic Optical Project Group, held a conference on the application of digital healthcare in the ophthalmology field and introduced the company.
