Jeonnam Province Gathers Capabilities to Reflect 'Eutteum Jeonnam Future Strategy' in National Agenda
[Muan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam Province has decided to concentrate its administrative capabilities to reflect the ‘Eutteum Jeonnam Future Strategy,’ which will lead the region's future development, in the national agenda ahead of the new government's launch.
The province announced on the 16th that it held the first meeting of the ‘Special Team (TF) for Reflecting the New Government's National Agenda.’
Under the vision of ‘New Marine, Cultural Tourism, and Eco-friendly Capital, Jeonnam,’ the province prepared the ‘Eutteum Jeonnam Future Strategy,’ consisting of 35 core tasks, 26 regional development tasks, and 9 institutional improvements. Since the second half of last year, it has been proposing these to major political parties to be reflected in the president’s pledges. Twenty-five tasks were included in President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol’s pledges.
At the TF meeting, participants focused on reflecting the ‘Eutteum Jeonnam Future Strategy’ to secure Jeonnam’s growth engine in the new government’s national agenda. They discussed detailed implementation plans for individual tasks that must be included in the national agenda, including the president-elect’s Jeonnam pledges and campaign promises.
The special team, formed on the 10th, is divided into the Situation Management Group and the Pledge Implementation Group for systematic response.
The Situation Management Group is responsible for analyzing the new government’s policy direction, identifying communication channels with personnel participating in the transition committee, and systematically managing the national agenda. The Pledge Implementation Group monitors departmental work reports and prepares detailed implementation plans for the ‘Eutteum Jeonnam Future Strategy’ that must be included in the president-elect’s Jeonnam pledges and the national agenda.
The province plans to proactively respond to the reflection of the ‘Eutteum Jeonnam Future Strategy’ in the national agenda by finding points of contact with members of the National Assembly participating in the transition committee, party officials, central government officials, and experts favorable to Jeonnam.
In particular, although not included in the president-elect’s pledges, the province intends to actively propose to the transition committee the inclusion of urgent regional development issues in the national agenda, such as the establishment of a national medical school, creation of an offshore wind power industry ecosystem, construction of an ultra-high-power laser research center, and joint hosting of the 33rd United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP33) in the southern coastal region of Namhaean and Namjung.
Additionally, the province plans to actively respond to the new trend of regional balanced development through super-regional cooperation.
Tasks such as the establishment of the Namhaean Elastic Material Belt, the Namhaean Southern Mega City, and the Seoul-Jeju high-speed railway will be strategically coordinated with other cities and provinces such as Gwangju, Gyeongnam, and Gyeongbuk.
