Incheon Airport Corporation Holds Overseas Airport Business Briefing... "Promoting Joint Entry"
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] Incheon International Airport Corporation announced on the 16th that, amid growing expectations for the recovery of air travel demand and the imminent launch of large-scale overseas airport projects in Indonesia, Poland, and other countries, it plans to promote joint overseas ventures with excellent domestic companies to contribute to the revitalization of the national economy.
The major projects under review for participation by the corporation this year include ▲ Indonesia Lombok Airport investment and development (PPP) project ▲ Poland new airport project. Since various fields of expertise and know-how are essential in the operation and development of overseas airports, the corporation plans to form a 'Team Korea' with outstanding domestic companies to increase the chances of winning the bids.
In this regard, the corporation held a briefing session jointly with the Overseas Construction Association at the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry conference room in Jung-gu, Seoul, on the afternoon of the same day, titled 'Briefing Session for Joint Overseas Airport Business Entry in Indonesia and Poland.' It aims to establish collaborative relationships with excellent domestic companies in the overseas airport business sector.
Complying with COVID-19 quarantine guidelines, a total of 15 leading domestic construction, engineering firms, and financial institutions are attending this briefing session. The session will include explanations of the overseas airport projects under consideration by the corporation, as well as detailed participation plans and future schedules for each project, sharing diverse and in-depth opinions.
The total project cost for the Indonesia and Poland projects is approximately 11 trillion KRW. If Incheon International Airport Corporation wins the projects and enters jointly with domestic companies, it is expected to generate about 110 billion KRW in added value and create new quality employment in airport design, construction, and operation sectors. Additionally, during the airport construction phase, it will greatly help domestic companies in the aviation and tourism industries, including construction companies involved in design, construction, and supervision, and in the future operation phase, duty-free shops, travel agencies, and others to open new markets.
