The Democratic Party Appoints Assemblyman Kim Seong-hwan as New Policy Committee Chairperson

[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] The Emergency Response Committee of the Democratic Party of Korea appointed Assemblyman Kim Seong-hwan as the new Chair of the Policy Committee on the 16th.
Cho Oh-seop, spokesperson for the Democratic Party's Emergency Response Committee, announced this decision to reporters immediately after the on-site Emergency Response Committee meeting held at the Gwangju City Party Headquarters on the same day.
Spokesperson Cho said, "At today's Emergency Response Committee meeting, we completed consultations on political appointments," adding, "Assemblyman Kim Seong-hwan was appointed as Chair of the Policy Committee, and Assemblyman Go Yong-jin as Chief Spokesperson."
Regarding new party members after the presidential election, he explained, "From the 10th to the 15th, 117,700 registered party members were approved for new membership." He added that the Seoul City Party accounted for 25%, the Gyeonggi Province Party 34%, and by age group, those in their 40s were the largest with about 33,000 members.
Spokesperson Cho interpreted this by saying, "Despite the defeat in the presidential election, it seems to reflect the public's wish to protect the party."
