Fox News announced on the 15th (local time) that its video journalist Pierre Zakrzewski was shot and killed while reporting in Horenka on the outskirts of Kyiv the previous day. It was confirmed that Zakrzewski was in the vehicle with reporter Benjamin Hall, who Fox News had previously reported was injured and hospitalized during coverage the day before. Earlier, Fox News had only disclosed Hall's injury and had not mentioned Zakrzewski's condition.
Susan Scott, CEO of Fox News Media, said, "I am very sad and heavy-hearted to share the news about our beloved video journalist Pierre Zakrzewski," adding, "Pierre was a war zone photographer who covered almost all of Fox News' international news for a long time, from Iraq to Afghanistan and Syria. His passion and talent as a journalist were unmatched by anyone."
In Ukraine, there have been ongoing reports of casualties among journalists covering Russia's recent invasion. On the 13th, Brent Renaud, a former New York Times (NYT) reporter, was shot and killed while reporting on the outskirts of Irpin, Ukraine.
Ukrainian human rights activist Lyudmyla Denisova stated that since the outbreak of the war, four journalists have died and more than 30 have been injured, emphasizing that Russian forces are actively targeting foreign press personnel.
