Suncheon-si, Construction Machinery Public Parking Lot Construction Promotion
Expectations to Alleviate Urban Residents' Inconvenience and Traffic Accident Causes
[Suncheon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Suncheon City announced on the 15th that it will promote the construction of a public parking lot to resolve inconveniences caused by illegal parking of construction machinery in the urban area and to prevent traffic accidents.
Currently, although construction machinery operators are required to secure individual garages under the garage certification system, most garages are located in the outskirts of towns and townships outside the urban area, resulting in illegal overnight parking on roads in the urban area instead of garages.
This has raised the necessity of creating a public parking lot due to issues such as inconvenience to residents and the risk of traffic accidents.
In particular, construction machinery operators have continuously requested the establishment of a public parking lot for construction machinery, similar to public garages for freight trucks, citing practical difficulties in creating individual parking lots in urban areas.
The city plans to promptly promote the construction of a public parking lot by securing a site in cooperation with the National Construction Machinery Suncheon Association.
Heo Seok, Mayor of Suncheon, said, “Since overnight parking of construction machinery greatly affects the safety of residents' lives, we will promptly create a public parking lot.”
