Professor Im Dong-sun of the Department of Economics at Dong-Eui University, the 25th President of the Korean Society for Environmental and Economic Studies.
View original image[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Duyul] Professor Im Dongsun of the Department of Economics at Dong-Eui University was inaugurated as the 25th president of the Korean Association of Environmental and Resource Economics on the 1st of last month. His term is one year, until February 28 of next year.
President Im graduated from the Department of Economics at Yonsei University and earned a Ph.D. in energy, environment, and resource economics from Pennsylvania State University in the United States. He has been working at Dong-Eui University since 2006.
He is actively involved in various fields of the environmental industry, including as a research fellow at the Korea Institute for Industrial Economics and Trade and as a policy committee member of the Energy Citizens' Coalition. In 2020, he also received the Best Paper Award from the Korean Society for Environmental Impact Assessment.
President Im stated, “I will strengthen the academic foundation to address real-world issues such as carbon neutrality, energy transition, changes in environmental and energy conditions, and the necessity of sustainable development, and to propose policies. I will also strive to promote excellent paper presentations, activate academic exchanges, and encourage active participation of emerging scholars.”

The Korean Association of Environmental and Resource Economics, established in 1990, is a leading academic organization in the fields of environment and resources with about 500 members. It conducts research on environmental and energy policy issues and feasibility analysis, estimates the value of environment and ecosystems, and undertakes academic research projects.
