Jeongeup-si Creates 'Eunhasugil' Pedestrian Bridge Near Juklim Waterfall
[Jeongeup=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeongeup City in Jeollabuk-do has transformed the pedestrian bridge between Saemgol Bridge and Jeongjugyo Bridge over Jeongeupcheon Stream into the Milky Way Path, gaining popularity as a new nighttime attraction.
According to the city on the 15th, as part of a landscape lighting project utilizing major bridges over Jeongeupcheon, a 70m-long and 4m-wide pedestrian bridge connecting the Sigidong Community Center in front of Jukrim Waterfall in Chosan-dong was created as the Milky Way Path and opened to the public on the 10th.
The Milky Way Path is designed to resemble the Milky Way in the night sky, shining as if sprinkled with stardust across the sky in a band shape.
The sides of the bridge feature LED landscape lighting sculptures shaped like the Milky Way, and the 280㎡ floor is coated with phosphorescent stone to emit a gentle glow even in the dark night.
Phosphorescent stone absorbs and stores ultraviolet rays from sunlight or external light sources such as fluorescent lamps during the day, then emits light by itself at night, creating a soft and romantic atmosphere.
Additionally, about 60 stars and the logo of the city’s vision, the ‘Jeonghyangnuri Fragrance Republic,’ also shine with LED lighting.
The lighting on the Milky Way Path operates from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., casting colorful lights to create a splendid and unique atmosphere, while offering comfort and healing through the warmth and quietness of the evening.
In particular, citizens highly appreciate the enhanced safety for nighttime pedestrians on the dark streets.
This area experiences frequent pedestrian traffic, and due to the aging wooden deck, damaged parts have increased, with severe corrosion and warping raising concerns about safety accidents.
Accordingly, the city has promoted the Milky Way Path project to provide new attractions and prevent safety accidents.
A city official said, “Since the Milky Way Path is located in the city center and is pedestrian-only with no vehicle traffic, we expect the effect of walking through the Milky Way to be maximized.”
He added, “We will continue to expand various nighttime attractions and content along Jeongeupcheon, creating more sights and activities, as well as replacing old and worn facilities to provide citizens with a safe and comfortable resting space.”
