Fatal Fall of 40s Worker at Samcheonpo Thermal Power Plant... Serious Accident Act Investigation
A man in his 40s died at the Samcheonpo Thermal Power Plant site operated by Korea South-East Power, prompting the Ministry of Employment and Labor to launch an investigation under the Serious Accidents Punishment Act.
According to the Ministry of Employment and Labor on the 15th, A (42), an employee of subcontractor KEPCO Industrial Development, died around 9:30 p.m. the previous day at the Samcheonpo Thermal Power Plant Headquarters in Goseong-gun, Gyeongnam.
A fell from a stair railing approximately 48 meters high while inspecting equipment at the coal distribution device of units 3 to 4 at the power plant. The work was being conducted in pairs, but A's colleague reportedly did not witness the accident.
The workplace has more than 50 regular employees and is subject to the Serious Accidents Punishment Act.
