Geumcheon-gu and Booyoung Group Ujeong Medical Foundation Sign MOU for Large General Hospital Construction, Groundbreaking Scheduled for First Half of the Year
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) signed a business agreement on the 14th with Booyoung Group's medical corporation, Woojeong Medical Foundation, to successfully establish a general hospital.
Through this agreement, Geumcheon-gu promised to provide active administrative support for the construction of the general hospital and to cooperate with Woojeong Medical Foundation for job creation for Geumcheon residents and regional economic development. Additionally, Woojeong Medical Foundation agreed to collaborate on providing university hospital-level top medical services, enhancing residents' welfare, and offering medical services to marginalized groups.
Previously, Booyoung Group established Woojeong Medical Foundation in 2017 through its affiliates Booyoung Housing and Donggwang Housing, securing the project qualifications by investing hospital land and operating funds worth approximately 45 billion KRW.
The general hospital to be built at 996 Siheung-dong will have 5 basement floors and 18 above-ground floors, with a total floor area of 175,818㎡ and 809 beds.
Main facilities include ▲Basement floors 1 to 5 for parking and convenience facilities ▲Above-ground floors 1 to 4 for outpatient clinics, examination rooms, and cultural spaces ▲Floors 5 to 6 for operating rooms, intensive care units, research labs, and a sky garden ▲Floors 7 to 17 for inpatient wards ▲Floor 18 as the rooftop floor.
Furthermore, specialized medical centers such as the Cardiovascular Center, Gastroenterology Center, and Women's Center will be established. In particular, to secure the golden hour, the installation of a regional emergency medical center utilizing the hospital rooftop heliport is under consideration. Health-related facilities including a Mental Health Welfare Center, Dementia Safety Center, and psychological counseling office "Maeum Shwim" will be housed, and a 3,300㎡ park featuring "Healing Garden" and "Well-being Forest" will be created on the hospital grounds for patients and local residents to relax.
Geumcheon-gu completed the environmental impact assessment on February 23 and passed the building permit on February 24, preparing for groundbreaking. Temporary fence maintenance and detailed soil surveys will be completed by the end of March, with a groundbreaking ceremony scheduled for April 2. Preparations such as safety management plans will be finalized to commence construction in May, aiming for completion in January 2026.
