Busanjinhae Free Economic Zone Authority Catches Environmental Pollutant Emissions Using 'Drone'
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] The Busanjinhae Free Economic Zone Authority is cracking down on illegal emissions of pollutants using drones.
They plan to visit company sites for environmental guidance inspections and conduct a pilot operation in the Macheon General Industrial Complex in Jinhae-gu, where foundry manufacturing industries that generate a large amount of air pollutants are concentrated. After addressing any issues, they will gradually expand the enforcement radius.
The Macheon General Industrial Complex was designated as a local industrial complex in 1992 and is responsible for core industries such as foundry and mold manufacturing. However, due to the economic downturn and aging production facilities, violations of environmental laws and complaints about environmental pollution have been recurring.
Last year, the Free Economic Zone Authority inspected the Macheon Industrial Complex and took administrative actions such as suspension of operations and improvement orders against 19 resident companies that violated the Air Environment Conservation Act and the Waste Management Act.
This year, they plan to establish a network with the district office and the Ungdong 1-dong Pollution Eradication Committee to conduct joint public-private inspections and encourage proper operation of emission facilities.
An official from the Free Economic Zone Authority stated, “We will take strict measures against businesses that intentionally and habitually violate regulations or cause complaints.”
