According to the province, the Ministry of Environment conducted a contest for the water supply modernization project targeting 161 water supply business local governments nationwide from January to February this year, selecting 20 local governments including Wanju-gun and Muju-gun.
The project period will run for three years from this year until 2024, with 6.5 billion KRW invested in Wanju-gun and 8 billion KRW in Muju-gun.
The water supply modernization project is aimed at preemptively eliminating factors that threaten daily life safety such as leakage damage and water outage accidents by detecting leaks and repairing aging pipelines, and promoting block division of water supply pipes to reduce leakage and enable efficient quantity management.
The Ministry of Environment is promoting the water supply modernization project contest in response to the ongoing concerns about tap water, such as red water incidents, and the increasing importance of water supply management.
